Manchester City boss Roberto Mancini appears to have ruled his club out of the three-way race for Arsenal striker Robin Van Persie.
The Sky Blues were understood to be fighting Manchester United and Juventus for the Gunners’ striker’s signature, after he told his club he wouldn’t sign a new deal with them once his current contract expires at the end of this term.
However, Mancini told Sky Sport Italia he wasn’t after the Dutchman, despite speculation to the otherwise in recent weeks.
“Van Persie? No, I don’t think he will come here,” Mancini said.
Juventus have claimed Van Persie is too expensive for them, leaving the Red Devils as the favourites to land him for a £20 million transfer fee.
Meanwhile, Mancini added it was unlikely Edin Dzeko would leave the club despite rumours of an Italian move.
