Sports Pundit’s Game of the Weekend

Manchester City v Manchester United

English Premier League, Monday 8pm (CET)

The biggest game of the English season is upon us, with the second Manchester derby of the league term to determine the destination of the title. Man City have cut United’s lead back to three points, after it was out to eight points not long ago. The Sky Blues memorably won their previous league encounter ths term 6-1, but have been beaten by United in both the FA Cup and Community Shield this term too. This is a huge game, look out for Carlos Tevez facing his old club.

Olympique Lyon v Quevilly

Coupe de France final, Saturday 7.45pm (CET)

They may be struggling down in 14th in France’s third tier but tiny Quevilly have progressed to the final of the Coupe de France to be played on Saturday. They will take on Remi Garde’s Lyon who will hungry for some silverware after a few lean years. Quevilly’s giant-killing run to the final suggests there is hope for them, having knocked off Rennes and Marseille.

Real Madrid v Sevilla

Spanish La Liga, Sunday 1pm (CET)

After their midweek Champoins League failure, Real Madrid switch their attention back to the Spanish top flight where they can actually secured the La Liga title this weekend. Real are seven points ahead of Barcelona at the top after last week’s El Clasico win. If Barca lose to Rayo Vallecano, while Real knock off Sevilla, then the title is there’s.

Twente v Ajax

Dutch Eredivisie, Sunday 3.30pm (CET)

Dutch champions Ajax may hold a six-point buffer with three games to play, but this game will be huge against fourth-placed Twente, who only trail the leaders by seven points themselves. A Twente victory can see Ajax’s lead chopped, but an Amsterdam victory could actually see them claim the silverware. Elsewhere, second and third, AZ Alkmaar and Feyenoord, face one another, thus it’ll be a huge weekend in the Netherlands.

Udinese v Lazio

Italian Serie A, Sunday 7.45pm (CET)

The title race is drawing alot of attention in Italy, with Juventus and Milan going head-to-head but they are both expected to win this weekend. Elsewhere, the battle for the third and final Uefa Champions League is heating up and this clash will be pivotal. Lazio are currently third on 55 points but have struggled of late, winning just one of their past five league games, while fifth-placed Udinese, on 52 points, are in similarly poor form but will be looking for a boost.
