Sports Pundit’s Game of the Weekend

Real Madrid v Real Sociedad

Spanish La Liga, Saturday 8pm (CET)

Jose Mourinho’s side have stumbled in their past two games and shown signs of panic, meaning this clash against a struggling opponent takes on extra significance. All of a sudden, Real are only six points clear of second-placed Barcelona with an El Clasico to play. Mesut Ozil and Sergio Ramos were sent off in their last game, a 1-1 draw at Villarreal, along with Mourinho, who was banished to the stands. Sociedad are down in 14th, having lost their past two games, but who knows how Real will react to the recent events.

Chelsea v Tottenhamchelsea lampard

English Premier League, Saturday 1.45pm (CET)

London clubs Chelsea and Tottenham meet in the Premier League on Saturday night with both of their Uefa Champions League hopes up for grabs. The Blues are in fifth, while Spurs, who have been out of sorts of late, are in fourth some five points ahead. They are winless in their past four games, claiming just one point in that run, thus emphasising the importance on this clash.

AC Milan v AS Romaac milan ibrahimovic

Italian Serie A, Saturday 6pm (CET)

Milan are three points clear at the summit in Italy but face a big challenge on Saturday when they play host to AS Roma. The Roman club’s title challenge is well and truly over but they have plenty to play for, including a place in the Champions League as they sit sixth, four points behind third-placed Lazio. They are a tough opponent on their day and Milan will now just that.

Ajax Amsterdam v PSV Eindhovenpsv dries mertens

Dutch Eredivisie, Sunday 1pm (CET)

It’s a huge weekend in the Eredivisie with second versus fourth. This game will be crucial to the title. Leaders AZ Alkmaar have stumbled of late, so the points here will be critical. The champions Ajax are in some scintillating domestic form after several wins on the trot, but PSV, with individual talent such as Tim Matavz, Dries Mertens and Ola Toivonen, will know this is a decisive game and may step up.

Juventus v Inter Milanjuventus conte

Italian Serie A, Sunday 8.45pm (CET)

Two of Italy’s biggest clubs meet in Sunday’s late kick-off, but Juve are up in second contending for the title, while Inter are down in seventh, 19 points off the pace. Juventus remain unbeaten this season, but ended their four-game drawing streak with a win last weekend, while Inter have been up and down all season but are capable on their day.
