Aston Villa vs. QPR: EPL Betting Preview
It will take time for QPR’s latest batch of new signings to settle in but the London club can gain at least a point against Aston Villa on Wednesday.
Mark Hughes, who has only been in charge at Loftus Road for three matches following Neil Warnock’s sacking, was busy yesterday assembling a new strike force while Nedum Onouha and Taye Tawio have also arrived to bolster the Rangers’ defence.
So short of goals this season, Hughes has captured Djibril Cisse and Bobby Zamora, a duo with vast Premier League experience, in a bid to halt QPR’s slide back towards The Championship and the pair look decent signings.
It is unclear if either will be involved at Villa Park but the Welshman is short on attacking options and it would be no surprise to see one, perhaps both, handed their debuts.
Hughes is predicted to comfortably guide his new team clear of the relegation zone and Rangers have already displayed greater solidity at the back since he took over.
Home wins in the FA Cup over MK Dons and Wigan in the top flight were followed by a narrow, and shade unlucky, defeat to Chelsea last time out and a trip to the Midlands should hold no fears.
Aston Villa, underachieving once again this season, also crashed out of England’s premier cup competition on the weekend, at the hands of Arsenal, and it might take a while for Alex McLeish’s players to get over that defeat.
Leading 2-0 at half-time, Villa surrendered tamely after the break and they are struggling defensively at present.
A 1-1 draw versus Everton last time out in front of their home fans snapped a four game losing streak at Villa Park and while Manchester United, Liverpool and Arsenal would all have expected to triumph at the famous ground, Swansea were also 2-0 winners back in January and that run of results will have concerned the Scottish boss.
Performing in front of such a demanding set of supporters clearly doesn’t suit this Villa side, Bolton and West Brom have also won on their travels there this term, and at odds on I have to be opposing them.
QPR arrive on somewhat of a high and a score draw looks the most likely outcome.
