The big match in the Bundes Liga will be the battle between holders Borussia Dortmund and traditional rivals and league leaders Bayern Munich when the two teams clash at the Allianz Arena in Munich. This match holds a special importance at this time of the season as the result will have a huge bearing on where the Bundes Liga trophy will reside at the end of the long German season.
Bayern Munich have made a fantastic start to the season with all the players in sync with each other. Watching them play this season is like watching a skilled gamer control his favorite team on a play station control. Bayern have banged in 32 goals in 12 matches and have conceded a mere 12 goals so far this season – an amazing feat by any standards considering what their nearest rivals have been up to so far this season.
The best player for Bayern Munich this season has been new signing Manuel Neuer, who has firmly established himself as the goalkeeper of the national team and has become one of the best goal keepers in Europe.
The other person who deserves a lot of credit for these marvelous statistics is German striker Mario Gomez. He has simply been superb for Munich this season and is thriving alongside the likes of Franck Ribery, Thomas Muller, Bastian Schweinsteiger, Toni Kroos, and Luis Gustavo. Ribery has sort of rediscovered himself and has been superb on the flanks this season.
His form bodes well for the French national team too, which has been screaming for some quality on the wings.
Borussia Dortmund have made a relatively slow start to the league this season with some of their players taking time to get back to their best after the season break. Shinji Kagawa in particular, who had been absolutely phenomenal for Dortmund last season that saw him being linked to a host of top European clubs, has been finally looking good this season after getting off to a slow start.
He struggled to make the lineup at the start of the season and did not look fit enough for the Bundes Liga. However, he is in far better physical condition now and looks back to his best.
Mario Goetze in the meanwhile has continued to fire for the men in yellow. The teenage attacker has become a huge player for Dortmund and the German national team in a matter of a few months. His quality is not in doubt and doing well against Bayern will be a firm objective for him come Saturday.
This should be a cracker of a match that will determine the fate of the German title race this season. I will be putting my money on a victory for Bayern Munich given their recent form and the fact that the match will be played at the Allianz Arena.
