As on November 1, Newcastle United have ridden some wonderful form to remain the only unbeaten team in the Premier League aside from leaders Manchester City so far. In the process, the Toons have climbed up to third spot in the league standings and within a point of Champions Manchester United.
In ten games played so far, Newcastle United have amassed 22 points – 6 wins and 4 drawn games. The man who has been pivotal for their success is striker Demba Ba, who has been absolutely phenomenal so far this season. He has been scoring for fun and has recorded yet another hat trick in last night’s game against Stoke City.
Midfield has seen some solid displays from Cheick Tiote and new acquisition Yohan Cabaye, who has been brilliant to watch. Hatem Ben Arfa has also performed extremely well when manager Alan Pardew has thrown him on to the field of play. Although the likes of Gabriel Obertan, Sylvain Marveaux, and Dan Gosling have not impressed much, the players around them have been exceptional.
The defending too has been brilliant with Fabricio Collocini a rock at the back. His performances have resulted in him being linked with the top clubs in Europe – Barcelona as well as Bayern Munich are believed to be in the running for his services.
The likes of Steven and Ryan Taylor have also been playing really well for Newcastle so far with Fraser Forster excelling in goal. In fact, at present Newcastle United have the best defensive record in this season’s Premier League with a mere seven goals conceded from 10 matches.
It can be said that Newcastle have benefitted a lot from the sale of Andy Carroll to Liverpool for a whopping 35 million pounds. The money from that transfer has been well spent by boss Alan Pardew who has given the impression that he will guide Newcastle back to the glory days.
The atmosphere has been absolutely electric in all the games that have been held at St. James’ Park in Newcastle with fans extremely happy with how the team has progressed.
Fans who were pretty disillusioned with how the club was run following the sales of Andy Carroll, Kevin Nolan, and then the transfer of Joey Barton are now extremely happy with the quality of players that Newcastle United have added to their roster over the summer.
While Newcastle’s position in the Barclay’s Premier League table may come as a surprise to some of us, manager Alan Pardew believes that this team can go beyond third in the standings.
The club is three points clear of Chelsea in fourth place while the likes of Tottenham, Liverpool, and Arsenal are further behind in the standings. Let’s just say that St. James’ Park is going to witness some historic moments in the near future.
