Blackburn vs. Tottenham: Premier League Betting Preview

Spurs were held at Newcastle last time out but should resume winning ways at Blackburn on Sunday and I’ll be backing them to do so.

A 2-2 draw at St James’ Park brought to an end a run of four consecutive victories in the Premier League for Tottenham but there was no disgrace in dropping points against the unbeaten Magpies and it would have been an awful lot better if Shola Ameobi had not struck late on for the hosts.

With a large squad at his disposal, Spurs manager Harry Redknapp chose to give the majority of his first team the night off on Thursday for the 1-0 triumph over Rubin Kazan at White Hart Lane and he’ll be expecting maximum points at Ewood Park.

Spurs take on a Blackburn team that currently sit bottom of the English top flight and the pressure is mounting on Steve Kean. The Rovers boss has seen the home supporters turn against him in recent weeks and the highs this season have been far outweighed by the lows.

Blackburn have won just once all term, a pulsating 4-3 success over Arsenal, and Kean probably knows his days are numbered. The 1995 champions lack quality throughout and also have a wretched recent record against Sunday’s opponents.

It is just two wins in 15 matches for Blackburn versus the north Londoners and Spurs have claimed maximum points on each of the last four occasions. I’m expecting that run to be extended this weekend and the 1.91 across the board about an away win will do for me.

The fact that Blackburn have kept just one clean sheet in their previous 15 Premier League matches must concern manager and fans alike and it looks set to be another long afternoon for the Ewood Park faithful.
