Real Madrid sporting director Jorge Valdano has said that los Blancos can go a long way in the competition so far this season.
Madrid defeated Olympique Marseille 3-1 at the Stade Velodrome on Tuesday night in Group C to progress through to the knockout stages of the Champions League as group winners.
Speaking after the match, Madrid sporting director Jorge Valdano told Marca:
“I want to congratulate the team. We won with authority. We were solid in defence, and clinical in attack. Ronaldo gives confidence to our team, and intimidates the opposition.”
“The loss against Milan in the Bernabeu complicated things. We have progressed from a difficult group. In February, we will be well prepared to face the rest of the competition.”
