FC Barcelona right back Daniel Alves has expressed his relief at not joining Premier League club Chelsea in the summer of 2007.

Alves came close to joining Chelsea in the summer of 2007 when he was still with Andalucian side Sevilla. At the time he was quite angry that Sevilla president Jose Maria del Nido did not.
The Brazilian international right-back eventually signed for Catalan giants Barcelona last summer and is now arguably the best right back in the world. Alves has now expressed his relief at not joing the Blues when he had the chance and is very much happy at Camp Nou.
Dani Alves told Marca:
“I was close to signing with Chelsea but luckily it did not happen and I moved to a team that suits me perfectly.
“I am convinced that we are going to give people something to speak about, in the Champions League. Barca are always amongst the favourites thanks to their football and their greatness.
“We are a step closer from our target, which is to make the final in Rome. What we must do is achieve a great work at home and then qualify up there.
“Barcelona are going to be a very tough adversary for Chelsea.”
