Valencia star David Villa has declared that he would remain at the Mestalla beyond the summer, irrespective of whether Valencia manage to qualify for next season’s UEFA Champions League.

Valencia are in deep financial trouble with an estimated debt of over 500 million pounds hanging over them and a number of star names are supposedly on their way out of the Mestalla at the end of the season.
One of those slated to move out of the Mestalla is theSpanish international striker and Euro 2008 winner David Villa. A number of clubs, including Chelsea and Manchester City of the Premier League, Inter Milan of the Italian Serie A and Real Madrid and FC Barcelona of Spain, have been linked with the 27-year old.
But Villa has now confirmed that he shall not depart the club at all, even if they fail to secure Champions League football for next season. Spanish sports daily AS quotes the former Sporting club de Gion striker as saying:
“The rumours do not affect me because, to tell you the truth, my future does not depend on it. The best thing for me to do is to forget about it and concentrate on football. If something comes up, it will be discussed but until then, it’s just a waste of time.”
“It will affect Valencia’s future, but not my decision because I want to stay here. We all know what it is like to miss out on the competition this year, which is why we really want to finish in fourth place.
“But the thought of missing out on the Champions League hasn’t even crossed my mind. I’m not thinking about anything else other than to be in the top four.”
