Tottenham Hotspur star Dimitar Berbatov has been a subject of intense transfer speculation since the middle of this season. With Spurs failing to challenge for top honours, there’s a stiff feeling that the Bulgarian has outgrown the north London club and the British press has been perpetually hinting at a move for Berbatov in the summer.
And now Spurs boss Juande Ramos too acceded that Berbatov could leave White Hart Lane in the summer. Ramos said in a press conference that Berbatov would leave only if the price thrown is the right one.
The former Sevilla FC said:
“We know the situation of Berbatov and we are calm about it. If a team comes along and pays the asking price the chairman wants then possibly yes, but we’re delighted to have him here.”
That asking price is thought to be as high as 30 million pounds, not an amount that every Tom, Dick and Harry club can produce at a moment’s notice. But the likes of Real Madrid and Manchester United and maybe one of these bigger boats would arrive in the summer and prisk the fish names Dimitar Berbatov away from White Hart Lane.
