Henry Still Loves Arsenal

Thierry Henry has been modest at best in his first season in La Liga for FC Barcelona and there have been loads of talks that the 30-year old French international striker could be on his way back to England in the summer.

Thierry Henry has been modest at best in his first season in La Liga for FC Barcelona and there have been loads of talks that the 30-year old French international striker could be on his way back to England in the summer.

But where? The rumour mill has thrown up the names of Chelsea and Newcastle United but Henry told BBC’s Football Focus programme that if he ever returns to England, he shall return only to his old club Arsenal.

Henry departed from Arsenal last summer for 16.1 million euros after his relationship with the Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger went cold. But Henry insists that he doesn’t regret leaving Arsenal and that he is happy at Camp Nou:

“I’m happy - I don’t regret leaving Arsenal.

“But there’s only one team in England for me. Everybody knows the love and affection I have for Arsenal. I was so into it, I became a fan.

I don’t know. I’m happy here at Barcelona. I still have three years of my contract left with Barcelona.

But England… I watch every game that I see on TV. I was watching Stoke City versus Crystal Palace. I will always miss it.

“There has been since I arrived here a lot of speculation from day one but, hey, go back where? There’s only one team for me in my heart. It took me a while to understand what that club, Arsenal, meant.”

Thierry Henry shall always be worshippped like a God by the Gunners and although he might possibly never play in an Arsenal shirt again, he shall always be etched deep in the history of Arsenal.
