Thierry Henry hasn’t featured much for FC Barcelona in his first season with the Catalan giants and most of the time that he has featured for Frank Rijkaard’s side, he has been shoved to the left flank. Henry is actually a striker but with Samuel Eto’o playing as a striker down the middle, he has been shifted to the left to accomodate in the team.
But the French striker says that he fears that this playing out of position could adversely affect him when he joins the French national team for the Euro 2008 finals in Austria and Switzerland in the summer. Henry told L’Equipe:
“This could be a problem, I have to be honest.
“Against Spain in Malaga in February, I lost all my bearings in the middle. I was lost in all the calls, all the runs.
“And in front of goal, I no longer position myself in the same way, I no longer have the same reflexes. So that can create a problem.
“I hope that between the end of the season with Barcelona and the start of the Euros, I have the chance to play back in the middle during France’s preparation games and that I can again make my mark in this position.”
Henry seems to be trapped between the frying pan and the fire but at the same time he cannot help it since unlike at Arsenal where he was the star, here at Camp Nou he is just one of many gems.
