22-year old Spanish international star David Silva has just signed a new five year deal with Valencia, thereby confirming his commitment to Los Che for good.

A number of clubs have been hunting for the signature of the versatile young Valencia star, who was easily one of the best players at Euro 2008. Real Madrid, FC Barcelona, Liverpool and Manchester United all have been vuying each other for the prized signature for the player.

But the player’s agent Julio Llorente told Sky Sports News earlier this week that David Silva had in fact rejected a big money move to Premiership and European champions Manchester United in the summer as he wanted to continue at Valencia.

David Silva signed a five year contract extension on Thursday and understandably everyone related to Valencia are happy. Valencia president Fernando Gomez declared to the press:

“It’s very satisfying to see the player’s willingness to stay.

“The club will not do anything crazy or break our financial and sporting guidelines so we have gone as far as we have been able to.

“There is complete agreement between the club and the player David Jimenez Silva that he will remain with us for the next five seasons.

“We have always expressed the hope that he will stay with us.”

One down, one more to go. Valencia shall now try and secure the services of superstar David Villa before the start of the 2008-2009 campaign later this month.
