Daniel Elena has risen extremely quickly through the rally ranks, in recent years. He started out in 1997 as co-driver for Herve Bernard, but took up with Loeb from the following season and quickly developed a strong relationship with the unshakable Frenchman which netted the Citroen Saxo Trophy in 1999, the French gravel title in 2000 and the FIA Super 1600 championship in a Citroen Saxo in 2001.
Naturally, he was picked to partner Loeb in the WRC, and the pair has since become one of the top WRC crews in recent years.
In 2006, Elena became the most successful co-driver in the history of the WRC in the passenger’s seat of Loeb’s Citroen Xsara. In 2007 he partnered Loeb back at the factory-backed Citroen team, this time in a Citroen C4 WRC, and secured his fourth consecutive co-drivers? title. The dream team will be together again in 2008 aiming for a record breaking fifth consecutive title.
