With a racing career beginning with Karting, Robert Wickens stayed in the field of kart racing from 1999 till 2004, during which time he accumulated two Sunoco Ron Fellows Kart championship titles, in 2002 and 2003.
In 2005 Wickens made a jump into Formula BMW USA championship, where clinched a third place finish overall, with 2 race wins, five podium positions and one pole under his belt, apart from 14 top-10 finishes, all in 14 starts. The very same year, Wickens went on to win the BMW event in Paris, France at Race of the Champions. Further, at the Formula BMW World Finals, held in Bahrain, Wickens managed a 6th place finish even though he had started 27th, owing to a cut tire. The last achievement in 2005, was the 2005 Sunoco Ron Fellows Senior Kart championship win, where he was crowned champion of Formula Senior.
In 2006, Wickens established his talent by winning the Formula BMW USA championship title, resulting from 3 race wins, seven podiums and 2 poles. Following this remarkable achievement, Wickens was selected into the Red Bull Junior Team.
The following year, Wickens went on to clinch 3rd place in the Champ Car Atlantic championship, with one race won, four podiums, one pole and he also won the BBS Rising Star award. Robert Wickens is all set to prove his mettle with A1 Team Canada in the 2007-08 season.
