Dale Jarrett
Born to a two-time NASCAR Cup Series champion, it was only natural that Dale Jarrett would end up in the sport. Dale began racing in 1977, at Hickory Motor Speedway, which is owned and run by his father Ned Jarrett. But his skill helped him make a name for himself in the sport. Dale was the first driver to win both the Brickyard 400 and the Daytona 500, in the same year, in 1996. He further won the Daytona 500 in 1993 and 2000 as well.
With 24 NASCAR Cup Series behind him, Dale accumulated an impressive 32 wins, 16 pole position and 260 top-10 finishes. His most successful season was in 1997, where he had seven race wins, his career best, and also won the famed National Motorsports Press Association's Driver of the Year Award.
In 2001, after his spectacular 2000 Daytona 500 win, even though he won four races, Dale suffered a huge crash at Kansas Speedway, and suffered a minor concussion. But he soon got back on track and in 2004, even though he did not win a single race, still finished 15th in point standings. By the 2007 season, Dale had joined the Michael Waltrip Racing team, and drew pole position in the Budweiser Shootout, the annual exhibition race.
Dale Jarrett retired from racing in 2008 after the Food City 500 at Bristol Motor Speedway.
