Ferrari’s Fernando Alonso says his team are “very optimistic” for the remainder of the Formula One season after winning the Chinese Grand Prix on Sunday.
The Spaniard, who was the drivers’ championship runner-up in 2012 to Sebastian Vettel, triumphed in Shanghai ahead of Kimi Raikkonen and Lewis Hamilton.
“It was a fantastic race for us from the start,” Alonso said.
“There were no big problems and the tire degradation was better than expected.
“In the two races we’ve finished we have got second place and victory, so our start of the 2013 season is very good.
“We are very optimistic for the rest of the season.”
Reigning world champion Sebastian Vettel finished fourth ahead of Jenson Button and Felipe Massa, to remain top of the 2013 standings after three races.
