Horner: Vettel One Of The Greats

Red Bull team principal Christian Horner says newly-crowned Formula One world champion Sebastian Vettel ranks among the greats.

Vettel claimed his third consecutive F1 title when he finished sixth at the Brazilian Grand Prix on Sunday, with his nearest rival Fernando Alonso only managing second which wasn’t enough.

Horner was full of praise for his Red Bull driver, who has made a habit of fighting back from adversity, particularly after spinning on lap one in Brazil.

“He is a three-time world champion and has won successive world championships,” Horner told Sky Sports News.

“He has raced in 101 races and won 26 of them, he has been on the podium more than 40 times which is almost in 50 percent of the races he has raced in, and he has 34 pole positions.

“I think those statistics, plus the way he conducts himself, just absolutely puts him amongst the greats.”
