There have been speculations around for almost three years now stating that there is a possibility that Fernando Alonso might be Ferrari’s new driver for the next season. But that “next season” never came. Or Maybe it has!!! >
Ferrari has let out a whisper that Alonso may have finally been persuaded to join the Italian giants on a massive 5-year contract. While there is little evidence to this alleged statement as of now, hints have pointed in the direction of the announcement coming through in Monza, Ferrari’s home circuit. Ferrari will be looking to generate some more interest amongst the fans who have been disappointed by a title race that is led by Brawn GP and Red Bull, with no Ferrari driver in sight.
With this season already over for them in all probability, and with the 2010 regulation changes-row out of the way, Ferrari have gotten down to think ahead to the next season and have probably secured Alonso’s signatures already.
The problem remains as to who Ferrari will be looking to replace, with Alonso coming in. Felipe Massa and Kimi Raikkonen have performed admirably in the past although this season has been a bit different - and not in a good way. >
Whoever is left, after Alonso comes in, may also have little time at hand in Ferrari as the Italians are said to be looking at Sebastian Vettel for the 2011 season.
As for now, we need to play the waiting game to see whether Ferrari actually make the announcement this weekend or not.
