Zach Johnson can now proudly show off his plaid jacket after winning the Colonial. He shot a final score of under par last Sunday. He finished three strokes ahead of Brian Davis who closed the game at 68.>
One of his finest moments during the game was sinking a 14-foot birdie putt at the 17th hole. In doing so, he gained a 2 stroke lead for himself. The final hole was stalled for a little less than an hour due to weather conditions.
Tying for the 3rd place were Jeff Overton and Ben Crane who both shot a 67. Following them were Scott Verplant with 65 and Bryce Molder with 70.
Along with his plaid jacket, Johnson won a $1.116 million check.
“I love it. There’s a reason I love playing here and keep coming back,” Johnson said. “The course does suit me as far as shot-making. I just feel honored.”
Another great clincher for Johnson occurred when he shot his 5th birdie back at the 9th hole. He was at his tee off point at 15 when the game was delayed for the first time. When the delay ended, he made his approach onto the green.
Before the first delay of the game, Johnson had a score of 20 –under. He later dropped back to even with Davis.
