Wie Bags Lorena Ochoa Invitational for 1st LPGA Win

Guadalajara, New Mexico - Michelle Wie finally managed to bag her first LGPA win at the Lorena Ochoa Invitational on Sunday, walking past Paula Creamer with a two-stroke victory at 3-under-69.michelle wie

She made the win after a greenside bunker shot that landed 6 inches from the 18th hole and which she secured with a birdie.

Michelle Wie started playing for the LPGA at the age of 12, a few years after she qualified for the tour at the age of ten. Despite the hype and hope that she would start making waves soon after, Wei has never won an LPG title until now. Her participation for this season was still welcomed by the LPGA which has recently been experiencing some financial setbacks and the effects of the recent forced resignation of the LPGA commissioner.

Wie has always been an attraction on the LPGA, even before she turned pro in 2005. Her performance slowed down a bit a few years after turning pro, which was made worse by a wrist injury in 2007. However, her participation in this season’s games has drawn crowds back to the sport, despite the fact that the season got off to a shaky start for her. So far, she has had two second finishes in the season as well as two third-place finishes on the tour.
