November 28, 2008 – The year 2008 is about to end, but before it does, let us take a look back at the top 5 players who made the PGA Tour memorable this season. Topping the list is none other than America’s Tiger Woods. Although Tiger only played six official events this year, he still managed to win four times, even finishing 2nd at the Masters where he took home over $5.5 million in prize money. His most memorable win this year was his victory at the 2008 US Open where he played with only good leg.>
Coming in at second place in the top 5 winners of the PGA 2008 season is Padraig Harrington. With Tiger not being around, this Irish golfer took over the green and won the final two majors of the year. Padraig won his second consecutive Claret Jug this year and won the PGA Championship held at Oakland Hills as well. His PGA win was his firs major win on American soil. Padraig is even being considered as one of Tiger’s challengers in the near future.
Third on the list is the US Ryder Cup team. Although Tiger was not able to join the team this year, the US Ryder Cup team still managed to bring the Cup home to America. The US Ryder Cup team was led by captain, Paul Azinger and rookies Anthony Kim and Boo Weekley.
Vijay Singh made it fourth on the list. What makes Vijay Singh eligible for the top 5 winners of the 2008 PGA season? Well, he won the FedEx Cup, three tournaments, had eight Top 10s and won over $16.6 million; he definitely deserves to be on this list. However, Vijay Singh did not make it first on the list because he wasn’t able to win any of the four majors held this year.
Last on the list is golfer Trevor Immelman. Though he only had two good weeks in the 2008 season, in those two weeks, he was able to win in the Masters. This was the golfer’s first major win and for that he earned the green Jacket. This was Trevor’s only win this year, but winning the Masters is no easy feat.
