Adam Jennings
Adam Jennings is a former wide receiver who played for teams like the Atlanta Falcons, Detroit Lions and New York Giants. Presently, he is a free agent. Jennings, who played his college football for Fresno State, was a sixth round pick in the 2006 NFL Draft. The Falcons chose him as the 184th overall choice. At Fresno State, he was an All-WAC first-team selection as a kickoff return specialist.
Jennings has been a kickoff and punt return specialist. In his first two seasons, he’s appeared in 31 games, bringing back 24 kickoffs and 30 punts. He’s accumulated a total of 737 yards, averaging 23.0 yards per kickoff and 6.2 per punt. In 2007, he caught six passes for 62 yards, making one touchdown and three first downs.
He signed with the New York Giants in 2010 on 15th July. However, he got waived on August 6, the same year. Prior to this team, he played for the Detroit Lions in 2008 and was cut short at the end of the training camp in 2009. He was re-signed on 30th September, place on season end injured reserve on 5th October and was waived on 29th December, 2009.
At five-foot-nine and 176 pounds, Jennings is undersized for a NFL pass catcher. As a receiver, he’s fourth or fifth on the depth chart. In is first two seasons, he was used primarily as a kickoff return specialist. This season, he looks to be on the punt return team. He has fine quickness, solid ability to cut and a good burst. This helps him as a return man and receiver. But on pass routes his footwork can be off at times and he also has a tough time taking the ball out of the air and holding onto it. His running chops are good. Jennings is a better special teams player than a wideout.
