Aaron Glenn is an active professional football coach and retired player originally from Texas. He currently serves as the Head Coach of the New York Jets in the National Football League. Prior to his extensive coaching career, he spent 15 seasons in the NFL as a Cornerback, earning multiple Pro Bowl selections and establishing himself as one of the premier cover corners of his era.

Aaron Devone Glenn was born on July 16, 1972, in Humble, Texas, United States. The Cornerback stands 175 cm tall, and his weight was last listed at 83 kg.

He attended Nimitz High School in Houston, Texas. Following graduation, Glenn began his collegiate career at Navarro College from 1990 to 1991 before transferring to Texas A&M University. During his time with the Aggies, he was a standout defensive back, earning SWC Newcomer of the Year in 1992 and being named a Consensus All-American and SWC Defensive Player of the Year in 1993.

Personal Life

His younger brother, Jason Glenn, also played in the NFL as a linebacker from 2001 to 2006. The two brothers had the unique opportunity to be teammates on the New York Jets during Jason's rookie season in 2001.

Professional Playing Career

He was selected by the New York Jets in the first round of the 1994 NFL Draft with the 12th overall pick.

During his professional playing career, Glenn spent his first eight seasons as a defensive cornerstone for the Jets, recording numerous interceptions and earning Pro Bowl honors.

In 2002, he was selected by the Houston Texans with the third overall pick in the NFL Expansion Draft. He continued his high level of play in Houston, earning his third Pro Bowl nod. He subsequently spent time with the Dallas Cowboys, Jacksonville Jaguars, and New Orleans Saints before retiring following the 2008 season.

He finished his 15-year playing career with 41 interceptions and 8 total touchdowns, and was later named to the New York Jets All-Time Four Decade Team.

Coaching and Executive Career

Following his playing days, Glenn transitioned into operations and coaching. He served as the General Manager for the Houston Stallions of the LSFL and worked as a Personnel Scout for the New York Jets before taking his first coaching job with the Cleveland Browns in 2014 as an assistant defensive backs coach.

He then spent five seasons as the defensive backs coach for the New Orleans Saints.

In 2021, he was hired as the defensive coordinator for the Detroit Lions, where he spent four seasons successfully leading their defense and helping orchestrate a major franchise turnaround.

In 2025, Glenn returned to the franchise that drafted him, being named the Head Coach of the New York Jets, a position he continues to hold today.
