Player Profile, High School, and College Career

Colton James Brennan was born on August 16, 1983, in Laguna Beach, California, United States of America. The quarterback stood 191 cm tall, and his playing weight was listed at 98 kg.

He attended Mater Dei High School in Santa Ana, California, where he developed alongside a highly competitive roster of athletes before spending a postgraduate year at Worcester Academy in Massachusetts. Brennan initially attended the University of Colorado as a walk-on, followed by a standout campaign at Saddleback College in 2004, where his stellar playmaking ability earned him regional junior college accolades.

Brennan’s definitive athletic breakthrough arrived when he transferred to the University of Hawaii under head coach June Jones. Playing for the Rainbow Warriors from 2005 to 2007, Brennan became a true collegiate icon.

In 2006, he authored a historic season, throwing for an astounding 5,549 yards and setting a then-NCAA single-season record with 58 passing touchdowns to claim the Sammy Baugh Trophy. In 2007, he finished third in the Heisman Trophy voting.

Professional Career

Brennan was selected by the Washington Redskins in the sixth round (186th overall) of the 2008 NFL Draft.

He generated immense national excitement during his rookie preseason in 2008, leading all NFL rookies in passing yards, touchdowns, and passer rating while demonstrating exceptional poise. He spent his initial year developing as the team's third-string quarterback.

However, severe physical setbacks began to derail his momentum. A combination of hamstring, knee, and hip injuries ultimately sidelined him for the entire 2009 season on injured reserve.

In 2010, Brennan signed a brief deal with the Oakland Raiders, competing during training camp before his release. Determined to keep playing, he spent the next several years navigating alternative football leagues.

He signed offseason or practice squad stints with the Hartford Colonials of the United Football League (UFL) in 2011, the Saskatchewan Roughriders of the Canadian Football League (CFL) in 2012, and the Los Angeles Kiss of the Arena Football League (AFL) in 2014.
