‘Friday, July 11, 2008 – Brett Favre had a press conference today, in which he officially announced that he wanted to come back to play football for another season.

This after he retired just a few short months ago.

The news has been roiling about for a couple of weeks. First the news reported he was talking about coming back…then the news was that he was denying the report that he was trying to come back… now he’s announced it officially – he wants to play again.

According to the sports pundits (that’s a pun) on Around the Horn and PTI, there are plenty of teams that could use him, from the Minnesota Vikings to the Chicago Bears to the Washington Redskins.

For myself, I think he should just stay retired.

What kind of life does the man have that he can’t be happy in retirement - spending more time with his family and friends. He’s in the position where he can do that.

Sure, most people who’ve worked every day of their lives find retirement boring, and actually get a job to kill some time, but they don’t have the physically demanding job of quarterback.

Favre had a fine sendoff and leaves behind a great legacy. One hopes he won’t tarnish it with this comeback attempt.
