A beamer is a type of delivery which is usually bowled by fast bowlers. The ball is often accidentally released by the bowler and does not bounce on the ground. Beamers can be tough for the batsman to judge owing to its speed and the surprise that it generates due to not bouncing. A beamer which passes the batsman above his waist level is penalized and ruled as a No ball as these can injure the batsman severely. Repeated beamers after a warning by the umpire can also lead to the suspension of the bowler from the rest of the innings.
