Cow Corner

In cricket, the Cow Corner is a region located in the field. It changes on whether or not the batsman’s dominant hand.

It typically stretches between deep-midwicket and long-on on the batman’s leg side.

Name Origins

It is thought to be named after an area on the Dulwich College grounds where cattle would graze.

Others say that it is named so because of ‘Cow Shots’ that typically land in the cow corner. Cow shots are wild and risky shots and are sometimes considered an amateur shot.

Cow Shots in T20 Matches

Batsmen in T20 Cricket are known to have favored Cow Shots and the Cow Corner. T20 matches are relatively short compared to other forms of cricket and are a great avenue for these risky shots especially during death overs.
