Arun Harinath is a professional English cricketer who is currently signed by Surrey County Cricket Club. He was born on 3rd April 1987 in Sutton, London. He is a right handed top-order batsman and an occasional right-arm off-break bowler. He has played for MCC and Loughborough UCCE at first-class level. Like the well-known English Cricket Alec Stewart, he was also educated at the Tiffin School. Later, he attended Loughborough University. Harinath’s brother Muhunthan is also a part of the Surrey.
Harinath is a product of Surrey Cricket Academy and has been associated with the county since the age of nine. His debut for the Second XI team came in 2003 and he became a regular part of in the team of Surrey by 2006. In spite of not making it to the first-team, a new 2-year contract was offered to him by Surrey in October 2008. In 25 first-class games played for Surrey till now, he has scored 1122 runs averaging 27.36, including a top score of 80.
He was included in the ECB Development of Excellence XI squad in the year 1005 to play against the Under-19s team of Sri Lanka. He toured to Australia in 2005-06 winters to play for Randwick Petersham.
Arun Harinath exhibited a good performance in 2006 scoring his first century with 157 runs for the second XI team in a match against Nottinghamshire.
