Gareth Cross
Born on 20th June 1984 in Bury, Gareth David Cross is a professional English cricketer. Currently he plays for the Lancashire County Cricket Club. He is a specialist wicket-keeper and also a right-handed batsman. This bowler's bowling style is right-arm medium-fast.
Cross’s Second XI debut came just a week and a half prior to his eighteenth birthday in a match played against Durham. He played List A cricket for three years before he made his first-class debut. His County Championship debut came after four months, when he played a game in the 2005 promotion season of Lancashire. Next year, Cross scored two half-centuries as Lancashire finished up second with just a single loss in the entire season
He played one first-class match during the 2007 season making a half century against Durham University Centre of Cricketing. Meanwhile, he continued to play for their Second XI team. He again played a first-class match in 2010, which was his first match in two years.
During the 2008-09 season, Cross played as a batsman for the St Kilda Saints. He received the prestigious Jack Ryder Medal which is given to the Player of the Year in the Victorian Premier League. In the opening round against Ringwood, Cross took 4 wickets for 41 runs, but barely got a chance to bowl again, getting only a couple wickets more. He batted at number 3 and 4 and hit 541 runs averaging 41 including a hundred.
He has played 23 first class matches in which he has scored 992 runs at an average of 29.17 and a best score of 125 runs.
