Christopher David James Dent, commonly known as Chris Dent was born on 20th January 1991 in Bristol. A professional English cricketer, Dent plays for the Gloucestershire County Cricket Club. He is a left-handed batsman and a Wicket-keeper. He is also an occasional left-arm spin bowler.
Dent was a part of Under-15s and Under-17s teams of Gloucestershire level as a member of the academy squad. At the same time, he played club cricket for Thornbury. He was included in 2nd XI team of Gloucestershire from 2007. The club signed him on his first professional contract in August 2009. His List A debut came in a match against Nottinghamshire in September 2009. He could not get an opportunity to bat or bowl in that match as his team reached the target of fifty eight runs with 9 wickets in hand.
Dent was chosen for the Under-19s team of England in their tour of Bangladesh in 2009. Later, in January 2010, he was selected to be a part of the English squad for the Under-19s Cricket World Cup.
Chris Dent scored 98 runs for Gloucestershire against Derbyshire in 2010.This was his highest score in the first-class cricket.
He exhibited a brilliant batting performance scoring 63 runs in a T20 match against Hampshire in 2010.
