Currently, he has been signed by Derbyshire. He has also played for Nottinghamshire in the past and made nine appearances for them in first-class matches. Standing six feet two inches tall, Footitt is a left-arm fast medium bowler. With a coach like Chris Tolley and mentors like Ryan Sidebottom and Greg Smith, Footitt seems to have a promising future in cricket-world.

Mark Footitt made his first-class debut in 2005. In fourteen first-class matches played so far, Footitt has taken 37 wickets at a bowing average of 31.00 His best bowling performance in these matches has been 5 wickets for 45 runs. He has also scored 100 runs in thirteen Innings in these first-class matches. He was also included in three List A matches, but unfortunately he was not able to take any wicket in these matches.
