Christopher John Llewellyn Rogersimage:Chris Rogers cricket|Chris Rogers cricket, born on 31st August 1977 in Sydney, is a professional cricketer who has played one Test match for Australia. He is the current captain of Derbyshire County. Other teams he has played for include Victorian Bushrangers, Northamptonshire, Wiltshire and Western Warriors. He is a left-handed batsman who also opens for his team.
Chris Rogers has a phenomenal career with a batting average over fifty in first class matches. In a hundred and sixty six matches played so far, Rogers has scored 14,371 runs with an average of 53.02. With a top score of 319 runs, he has forty five centuries and sixty six half centuries into his account. He is an occasional left-arm spinner who has taken a wicket in first class matches. In a hundred and twenty four List A matches, he has scored 4073 runs at a batting average of 36,04. Including a highest score of 140, Chris has made four centuries and twenty seven half centuries in these matches. Chris Rogers has also taken part in twenty three T20 matches scoring 369 runs with a top score of fifty eight.
Chris Rogers was included in Australian squad on 13th January 2008 as a cover for Matthew Hayden, who was nursing an injury. He made his international debut in a Test played against India on 16th January 2008 in which he was able to score only 19 runs in two Innings. Unfortunately, this was the only international match he has played so far.
