David Lloyd image:David Lloyd cricket is a former cricketer who played for his national side, England. Before joining the test and one-day international squad, Lloyd played county cricket for Lancashire. He was a left-handed batsman and a left-armed slow orthodox bowler.

David Lloyd got picked up to represent Lancashire in 1965 for county cricket and he stayed with them till 1983. He went on to play 407 first-class matches with a batting average of 33.33. He amassed 19,269 runs from playing first-class matches alone. His List A matches career lasted till 288 matches with an average of 32.74. He was a fairly good bowler and played first-class matches with average of 30.26 and List A matches with an average of 22.89.

For first-class matches, Lloyd achieved a highest score of 214 not out. He has also played 9 test matches and 8 one-day matches for Australia starting from an ODI debut in 1973 with a test debut following next year. While playing for Lancashire, Lloyd dismissed 276 batsmen and scored almost 27,000 runs.

After having a flourished career, Lloyd retired in 1983, to begin his second innings as a match umpire. He started by standing in at first-class matches and List-A matches from 1985 till 1987. Lloyd has oversaw 35 first-class matches and 27 List-A matches in total. In 1993, Lloyd was appointed as a head coach for the Lancashire team and he successfully coached them to bring home their third Benson & Hedges Cup. In 1996, Lloyd became the head coach for England team and led them to various victories against South Africa, New Zealand, India, in both test matches and one-day matches.

Later, in 1999-2000, he joined Sky Sports as a sports commentator.
