Alexander Cremer
Alexander Graeme Cremer is a Zimbabwean national cricketer at the age of 18. He is a leg spinner and got his first team spot just after six first-class matches and also partly due to the exit of Paul Strang, Andy Whitall and Ray Price from the national team.
Cremer completed schooling at Prince Edward School. He was actively impressive in school cricket and took numerous wickets.
He was handed a test debut in 2005 against Bangladesh, which Zimbabwe went on to lose. Later, he featured in test matches against South Africa and New Zealand. Typecast as a test specialist, Cremer’s opportunities in international test cricket were numbered following Zimbabwe's self-imposed exile from the format.
However, Cremer finally emerged in the limited overs squad against West Indies in 2007 but was not played due to the presence of a stronger Ray Price and Prosper Utseya.
Finally in the Al Barakah Cup Twenty20 tournament in Canada, Cremer got the opportunity to display his potential and took 2/10 from 3 overs. He also featured in the following series against Sri Lanka and Bangladesh.
In 2009, he debuted in his first ODI against Kenya and went on to become the leading wicket taker, with 15 wickets from 5 matches at an average of 11.46.
Career highlights
Cremer’s highest First Class score is an unbeaten 171 in the 2006-07 Logan Cup and his OD batting average is around 20 runs.
