Sulakshana Naik debuted for India against South Africa in 2002. She was retained in the team for some series, but soon lost her place in the team. In 2005, when the World Cup was played she was not a member of the team. In spite of this setback, she did not lose vigor and hope and worked hard at the game. In the early part of 2008, she was recalled in the team and she was included on the tours of Australia and New Zealand. Taking into account her performances, she has been continued for the Ireland and England tours to be held in the summer of 2009.

She is affectionately called Gauri and has an energetic and lively character. In the domestic Indian scenario, she plays for Western Railway. So, far she has represented teams like West Zone Women, India Women, Bombay Women and Asia Women XI.

Sulakshana Naik has played in 31 ODIs and in these got the opportunity to bat in 27 innings out of which she remained not out in 3 innings. She amassed 467 runs at a batting average of 19.45. her highest score was 79 not out and she hit 2 fifties. As a wicketkeeper, she took 16 catches and stumped 18 batsmen.
