Steve or Stephen John Rixon is presently the coach of Hyderabad Heroes team in the ICL. At the beginning of the 2000-01 series, he was the coach of New South Wales. Further, he was the coach of Surrey in England at the end of the 2003-04 summer.

After he retired in 1988, he was made the coach of New South Wales in 1989-90. During his first 5 seasons as coach, the team reached the Sheffield Shield final in all seasons and won 3 of them. The team also won the Shield-One day cup double twice. From late 1996 to 1999, Rixon was a successful coach of the New Zealand team. Then, he moved to Sydney for business reasons.

Rixon was a dependable lower order batsman and a sound wicketkeeper. In 1977-78, he was selected for Australia to play against India and West Indies and during these series he came into the limelight. In 1985-86, he signed a rebel tour of South Africa and this ended his Test career.

Steve Rixon has appeared in 151 first class matches and in these has played 221 innings. He remained not out in 35 of these and accumulated 4303 runs at a batting average of 23.13. His highest score was 128. He smashed 14 fifties and 6 centuries. As a wicketkeeper, he took 395 catches and stumped 65 times.
