Reetinder Singh Sodhi is a former Indian cricketer, who was an all-rounder, being a right-handed batsman and right-arm medium bowler. He played for teams like Punjab, Ahmedabad Rockets and India.

Reetinder Singh Sodhi’s disposition was industrious, combative and zealous. He looked as an hyperactive fielder, no-frills medium pacer and hard hitting batsman.

Career

In August 1996, while playing in the Under-15 World cup final against Pakistan at Lord’s, he exhibited a brilliant all-round performance. He was 82 not out and took 3 wickets for 34 runs. When he was just 16 years and 54 days, he made his first class debut in the Ranji Trophy against Delhi. In the following season, while playing against Delhi at Patiala, he scored 200 not out runs and this was his maiden century.

He debuted for India in One-Day International in December 2000 but never cemented his place batting at no.6, playing only 18 ODIs and finishing up in international cricket in 2002. He scored 280 runs at an average of 25.45, with a high score of 67 in his ODI career, as well as five wickets at 73.00 with an economy rate of 4.74.

He played more domestic cricket, including 69 first-class matches for Punjab from 1996 to 2007, scoring 3,680 runs at 38.73 with a career-high 251 not out. He also took 104 first-class wickets at 29.32. He signed with Ahmedabad Rockets in the short-lived Indian Cricket League.

After his playing career, he became a first-class match referee.
