Abhinav Mukund is an Indian cricket player who plays for major teams like Chennai Super Kings, Tamil Nadu and India Under-19s.This youngest player in the Chennai Super Kings, made a batting average of more than 60 in his first class cricket matches. He is now a part of the Chennai Super Kings to play for the IPL 5 season.
Born in 1990 in Madras, Abhinav is a top order batsman, playing left hand bat and bowling legbreak googly. He played for the Chennai Super Kings in the first season, 2008 and presently is a part of this team again in 2011.
Abhinav Mukund made his first class debut in Colombo (Colts Cricket Club Ground). This match was played in 2007 between Tamil Nadu and Sri Lanka Cricket Invitation XI. In the 1st innings, he was the opening batsman and hit 11 runs in 24 balls. While fielding, he took 1 catch and in the 2nd innings, he gathered 20 runs off 25 deliveries. This match was won by Sri Lanka Cricket Invitation XI by an innings and 96 runs.
Mukund made his Twenty20 debut in 2008 at Chennai (MA Chidambaram Stadium) in a match held between Chennai Super Kings and Rajasthan Royals. In this match, he took 1 catch. He was made the No. 8 batsman, but was clean bowled on the very first ball he faced. Rajasthan Royals won this match by 10 runs.
Abhinav Mukund has appeared in 57 First Class matches in which he has piled up 4765 runs at a batting average of 57.40 and batting strike rate of 56.22. His highest score was 300 not out. He clobbered 26 sixers, 604 fours, 16 hundreds and 13 fifties. He took 41 catches.
