Saurabh Sunil Tiwary had been exposed to cricket since the age of 11. Prior to having made entry in to first-class cricket in the year 2006, Saurabh has represented Jharkhand, his state at ‘Under-14 level’. The other teams in which he could be easily spotted included Bihar, India Under-19s,Bihar Under-14s, and Jharkhand. The other name by which people know Saurabh is ‘Saurav’. He is a left-handed batsman. Presently, he is a part of the IPL 5 season team, Royal Challengers Bangalore.
Saurabh made his debut in first-class cricket from 1st of December, 2006, i.e. in a four-day match. It was played between ‘Jammu and Kashmir’ and ‘Jharkhand’. The former one had won this match by 5 wickets. In the first innings, Saurabh scored 29 runs. In the second innings, he scored 24 runs. As a member of Mumbai Indians, Saurabh played against Rajasthan Royals on 7th of May, 2008 at Mumbai. Mumbai Indians had won this match by 7 wickets. Saurabh did not get to bat as the score to be chased by Mumbai Indians was very low; and top-order itself made these 104 runs.

In the 28 First-Class matches played so far, Saurabh has scored 1845 runs with the highest score of 169. In 58 Twenty20 matches, he has made 1162 runs, with 69 being his highest score till date.
