Stefan Kelly
Jerome Patrick Kelly was born on November 23, 1966 in Madison, Wisconsin. 1989 was a memorable year for him when he graduated his degree in University of Hartford, became a professional golf player and was not able to qualify for the PGA Tour. It was only in 1996 when Jerry finally made it to the major tournament. But in between he had several wins. In 1992 he held the championship title of the Wisconsin Open and in 1995 he had a successful season on the second tier of the Nike Tour winning two games in the tournament; one in Nike Alabama Classic and the other in the Nike Buffalo Open.
The American golfer is known to be “The Cylinder” among his fans and colleagues because of the many clutch putts he makes when playing.
Kelly was once an ice hockey player in high school representing his city in Madison East. He claimed that his strong background in hockey may have affected his early career in golf because of the aggressive attitude that should be applied when playing. But despite it all, Jerry was featured in the top 20 of the Official World Golf Rankings.
2002 was the highlight of his career so far. He finished in the 4th rank on the PGA Tour money list. On top of that he also earned the title of the Sony Open Hawaii PGA Tournament and the Advil Western Open. As per his over all professional record to date, these were his only PGA Tour wins. But he continued to play well in the following years. He finished in the top 10 in 2003 after winning a tie at the President’s Cup and was in the top 8 finishes in 2004.
Jerry achieved another win in 2006 with Rod Pampling at the Meryll Lynch Shootout.
So far, Kelly has 8 professional titles with 3 of these won on the PGA Tour and 2 on the Nationwide Tour. Although he played in all of the Major Championships in 2010, he missed the cut in the PGA Championship as well as the Open Championship.
