Dwight Washington is a right handed batsman and right arm fast bowler from the West Indies. He has so far played for West Indies B, Jamaica and West Indies. When the English team toured the Caribbean in March and April Washington urged the selectors to include him. However he got an opportunity to play Test cricket during the tour of South Africa when he was 22.
Washington played first class cricket from the 2003-04 season up to 2005. He appeared in 18 matches during which he bowled 2346 deliveries and conceded 1007 runs at a bowling average of 20.97. His strike rate was 48.8 and economy was 2.57. He has taken 4 wickets in an innings once and 5 wickets in an innings once. In these 18 matches he batted in 25 innings and scored 206 runs at a batting average of 12.87. He was unbeaten 9 times and his highest score was 58. He could hit only a single fifty and took 7 catches.
Washington has so far played in only 1 International Test match. This was at St. John’s from 29 April to 3 May 2005 against South Africa. In this match he bowled 174 deliveries and gave away 93 runs at an economy of 3.20. He could score just 7 runs but took 3 catches.
In first class cricket Washington has taken 48 wickets while in List A cricket 11 wickets.
