Jeetan Shashi Patel is a right arm offbreak bowler and a right handed batsman with the New Zealand cricket team. He has also played cricket for the Wellington cricket team.

Jeetan Patel has been playing first class cricket since 1999. He made his debut in International cricket in a One day International match against Zimbabwe at Harare in 2005. He bowled 9 overs giving away 47 runs and claimed the wicket of SV Carlisle. New Zealand won the match by 27 runs.

The same year he played his first International Twenty20 match against South Africa I Johannesburg. Patel claimed 3 crucial wickets and gave away 20 runs in the 4 overs that he bowled and won the Player of the Match award.

The following year, he made his debut in test cricket in a match against South Africa at Cape Town. Patel stood not out with 27 runs off 31 balls and claimed 3 wickets giving away just 117 runs in the 42 overs that he bowled in the first innings. The match however resulted in a draw. Patel was also a part of the New Zealand team that played in the 2007 World Cup.
