Ryan Watson
Ryan Robert Watson is a right handed batsman and a right arm medium pace bowler with the Scotland cricket team. He can also bowl off break deliveries. Presently, he is with the Scotland cricket team. In 2003, he got recognition when he hit a century off 43 balls in a match against Somerset in Edinburgh. By 2008, Ryan was known as one of the first three players to be awarded a contract with Cricket Scotland.
Ryan Watson started playing first class cricket since 2004. He made his debut in International cricket in 2006 in a One day International match against Pakistan held at Edinburgh. Watson played an impressive 80 runs from 85 balls and scored his maiden half century. He was caught and bowled by Shahid Afridi. Watson also bowled 7 overs in the match and gave away 54 runs. Pakistan won the match by 5 wickets.
The next year in 2007, Watson played his first Twenty20 International match once again against Pakistan. Watson could unfortunately score just 2 runs this time, before being caught by Mohammad Hafeez off a ball by Umar Gul. Pakistan won the match by 51 runs. The same year Watson scored his first International Century during the ICC Tri Series held in Mombasa against Canada. He was named as the captain of the Scottish team and led the team to the Twenty20 World Cup. In a total of 35 One Day International matches, Watson has scored 956 runs with a strike rate of 74.33.
