Paul Andrew Nixon is a wicketkeeper and a left handed batsman with the English cricket team. He has played for the Kent and Leicestershire cricket clubs. He is considered as one of the best reverse sweepers of the ball.
Paul Nixon has been playing first class cricket since 1989. He made his International debut in a One day International match against Australia in Melbourne in 2007. He was dismissed for leg before wicket in a ball by Johnson at 0. He caught Gilchrist and Hayden behind the wickets; however Australia won the match by 8 wickets. The same year he also made his first and only appearance in an International Twenty20 match against Australia. Once again he did a fair job keeping the wicket and dismissed Hussey by stumping him at 18 runs. Nixon remained not out at 31 runs having faced 22 balls which also included 2 fours and 1 six. In 2007, Nixon expressed his desire to join the rebel Indian Cricket League risking a ban from the ECB. He is currently playing with the Delhi Jets of the ICL. Nixon never got an opportunity to play International test matches.
In a total of 19 ODI’s, Nixon has scored 297 runs and made 3 stumpings and taken 20 catches behind the wicket.
