Hitesh Modi is a Right arm offbreak bowler and a middle order left handed batsman with the Kenyan team. He is a composed batsman at times and plays well within himself.

Modi made his debut in 1992 and has also played as a part of the 1996, 1999 and 2003 World Cup teams. Modi also appeared in the 1994 and 1997 ICC Trophy matches. Modi was made captain of the Kenyan team when the team's former captain Steve Tikolo and other players protested against contract agreements with the team management. Modi was not included in the team for a while owing to his poor performance and was asked to step down from captaincy once the management sorted out things with the players.

In 2006, Modi underwent a surgery after he broke his left index finger during the Intercontinental Cup match with Holland.

Hitesh is of an Indian origin. His father, Subhash Modi is an umpire and the father son duo has featured together in a One day International at Nairobi where Kenya played Bangladesh, the only pair to have accomplished such an act. Modi was judged leg before wicket by his father.

Modi plays domestic cricket with the Nairobi Gymkhana Club and also plays league cricket for Buckinghamshire.

In his career total of 63 One Day Internationals, Modi has scored a total of 1109 runs in the 1906 balls that he has faced averaging at 23.60 runs. He has a highest of 78 not out.
