Marchant de Lange is a professional South African cricket player, a tail end right handed batsman and also a right arm fast bowler. Nicknamed as Langy, Chant and also as Chana, Marchant played for teams like Titans and Easterns. At present, he has been bought by the Kolkata Knight Riders to play at the IPL 5 season.
He was called up to the squad of the South African cricket team and had little first class experience for the series against the team of Sri Lanka. He was drafted to replace Vernon Philander, in the second test match held against Sri Lanka, with figures of 8/126 in test debut and 7/81 in the Sri Lankan first innings. These figures are known as the best for any bowler in test cricket in 2011.

So far, Marchant has played in one test match, two T20s, one ODIs and in 17 first class matches, other than 15 List A and 3 Twenty20 matches. His overall statistics show that he bowled 2927 balls of 1777 runs at 17 first class matches, with a bowling average of 26.92 and a strike rate of 44.3.
