Lance Klusener is a retired professional South African cricketer who played for the South African national cricket team. He is well known all round the world for attacking batting. He is an all rounder. Klusener is a left handed batsman and a right arm medium fast bowler.

In 1996-97 during the second Test against India at Calcutta Klusener made his Test match debut. In the initial stages of his career he was known more as a blowler. In the test against India he was hammered by Mohammad Azharuddin who in the first innings of Klusener’s debut hit five consecutive fours.

Klusener made his presence felt to the world mainly during the 1999 world cup in which he became famous as a hard hitting batsman and was feared by the opponents. He overall batting average was always above 40 in ODIs and above 32 in tests.
After the success at the 1999 world cup there was a sudden decline in the performance of Klusener, mainly due to his persistent ankle injuries.

In the 2003 world cup Klusener as well as the South African team had a very disappointing performance. Due to his declining performance and constant injuries he was dropped out of the team after the 2003 world cup. Klusener announced his official retirement from international cricket in 2004.

After his retirement he joined back to domestic cricket. Klusener was signed by the Northamptonshire County Cricket Club in 2003 for a contract that continued till late 2007. In late 2007 he started playing for the Kolkata Tigers team in the Indian Cricket League Twenty20 tournament in India.
