Franciois du Plessis is a South African professional cricketer who was born in Pretoria on 13th July 1984. He is a right handed batsman and a right-arm leg break bowler. Faf du Plessis has represented the South African Team in the Under-19 Tournament. Most recently, he has been bought by the Chennai Super Kings team to play for the IPL 5 season.

He was contracted for a period of 6 months with Lancashire in the 2008 season as a Kolpak player. This was the result of his good performances in the domestic level. Faf du Plessis is a brilliant fielder and many of his previous team mates and coaches have applauded him for the same.

Faf du Plessis is not only good with batting but is also a good leg-break bowler. Presently he has been selected with the South African Team which is playing the World Cup-2011. His debut ODI match was against India on 18th March 2011 and he gave a good performance by scoring 60 runs.

In the 21 ODI matches that Faf du Plessis has played, he made 536 runs at an average of 31.52 whereas in 49 Twenty20 matches, he made 798 runs at an average of 22.16. Whereas while bowling in the 21 ODI matches, he has just managed to pick up just 1 wicket and in the 49 Twenty20 matches he has picked up 44 wickets.
